  1. I thought that all the roads were identified and mapped. Where did it come from and where was it going to? I am interested in your lovely scribbles but I'm curious and demand answers.

  2. No, they're not all known and mapped, Witchy. We tracked down and unearthed one a couple of years ago in Stalmine. This one, we suspect, was a trans-Penine route, running from Street (which is a good Roman name, and where bits of Roman road and a bridge have been excavated) to Yorkshire along the fell tops.

  4. Well, I tried to get 'em interested, Andy, but they weren't...and besides, it's on the Duke of Westminster's land so I'd probably get shot.

  6. Just a bit, Kisha. Favourite hobbies, shooting grouse with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on his estate, apparently...or possibly ramblers if the grouse aren't playing.
