    Those big fooffy hanging baskets of flowers on the outside walls seem so very peculiarly English. No Aussie pub has anything like that.I'd love to have A Ploughman's in there. possibly would also like a ploughman to have me in there ...

  2. Annie, there's a lot marsh nearby, which used to be dug for the peat, so I suspect that's where the name originates. As for the hanging baskets...we've got 'em outside our front door. They add a bit of colour in the summer, and act as an adventure for caterpillars.
